Android History Infographic
Although I love to Android, being a developer is very hard. Especially the issue of OS versions. Luckily a while now have settled down and only new versions of the systems will every 6 months minimum, respecting a development cycle much more mature.
The first version of Android (Android 1.0) was born in September 2008 and, like many analysts said, was still not cooked enough to be marketed. But we had to do it, Google wanted to show he had a mobile operating system that would reach a large number of users with integrated services.
It was not until mid-2009 when Google took a decent version, although many of the APIs and functionality that could do the developers have changed much since then. The books and documents that talk about Android 1.5 is nothing on today's recommended, unless you want to lose many new things and better implemented in your application. Anyways, here is an infographic that points out many of the leaps archived by Android:
Android 2.0 released in late 2009 marked the definitive excision and the biggest headache for developers who had to choose whether to fully implement the application with this version of the SDK that would exclude many users or continue to support the older ones.
Fortunately we are in Android 2.3, which ensures a stable system APIs to developers powerful and better management of resources. Most users are between 2.1 and Android Android 2.2. Although it is not a pending all the tablets when he arrived Android 3.0 Android 3.2 SDK and recently.
