Nintendo 3DS

Most of posts before, I have been talking about mobile devices related to Tablets or Phones, however there are another important branch into this market, and this is Nintendo with its DS and Sony with its PSP, among the most important.

This post will talk about the released characteristics that will come bundled with the renew Nintendo 3DS.

First, there are many attributes that shares with the Nintendo DSi, like a two cameras, same cartridge slot for games, retro compatibility with DS software and most of the input/output ports (buttons, speakers, touchscreen).

On the other hand, the enhancements from previous revisions will be the 3D superior screen without need of glasses, having aside a slider button to control the depth of 3D volume images. Also it will have a directional pad, movement sensor, gyroscope and three processor units.

Well lets summarize all those stuffs:

Processor: 266MHz ARM11 x 2
Video Processor: 133MHz PICA200
RAM: 64MB
Video Ram: 4MB
Storage: 1.5GB + SD cards
Superior Display: 3.53'' with 3D effects, 800x240 pixels
Inferior Display: 3.02'', 320x240 pixels
Cameras: 2 outside to recreate 3D images, 1 inside. Both with 0.3 MPX (640x480)
Connectivity: Wireless 802.11 b/g
Inputs: Buttons A/B/Y/X, Select, Start, Home, Wireless, Energy; Pad, Touch Resistive Screen, Microphone, Movement sensor, gyroscope, 3D slider.
Connexion Slots: Game, SD, Recharge, Headphones.
Dimensions: 134x74x21 mm; 230g.

This small device will be charged with quite few good things, the main problem it's that most of mobile phones are including better hardware specs that easily beats the 3DS. Nevertheless, Nintendo has long experience in the videogame industry, so they know what are they doing.

Here is a video example with some capabilities:
